Zavala County, TX — A routine welfare check by Zavala County Sheriff’s deputies led to the arrest of a man on drug charges Tuesday morning.

On March 10, 2026, deputies responded to the intersection of North First Avenue and East Edwards Street after noticing a vehicle that had been parked in the area for an extended period of time.

During the welfare check, deputies made contact with the driver, identified as 46-year-old Moses Vadis Quevedo. While speaking with him, deputies observed signs of impairment and noticed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a 12-ounce open alcoholic container and a baggie containing a white powdery substance that deputies identified as consistent with cocaine.

Quevedo was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Zavala County Jail.

He faces a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1/1-B less than one gram, along with multiple traffic and city citations.
