Firefighters Contain Workshop Fire in Uvalde Estates, Prevent Spread to Home

Uvalde, TX — Firefighters responded to a structure fire Friday evening in Uvalde Estates that destroyed a workshop but did not spread to the nearby residence.

The Uvalde Fire Department was dispatched around 5:40 p.m. on March 6 to a property on West Ward Trail.

When crews arrived, they found a workshop fully engulfed in flames.

The homeowner was present at the time of the fire and was not injured.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze and prevented it from spreading to the nearby home.

A total of 10 firefighters responded to the scene with a pumper truck, tanker truck and brush truck.

Officials also thanked Uvalde EMS and the Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office for assisting during the incident. AEP Texas responded to the area to shut off electrical power while crews battled the fire.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation.

While firefighters were still working at the scene, crews were dispatched to another emergency involving a grass fire near the Double Bridges area along Highway 90.

Officials said the department had already responded to several other calls earlier in the day, including a city ordinance burn violation, a burn ban violation in Uvalde Estates and a residential fire alarm.
