Crystal City, TX — A Zavala County man has been arrested after authorities say he made threats involving explosive devices and a potential shooting at a local school.
According to the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office, investigators arrested Geoffrey Moncada of Crystal City on March 6 following an investigation into a threatening phone call made to a local business.
Authorities said the caller threatened to place explosive devices and stated he would “shoot” a school campus.
The Zavala County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division worked with state and federal law enforcement partners to identify the source of the call.
Moncada was taken into custody without incident and charged with Terroristic Threat, a third-degree felony.
Investigators also conducted a search of the suspect’s residence. Officials reported that no weapons or explosive devices were found.
The sheriff’s office said it takes threats against schools and community members very seriously and will continue working with partner agencies to ensure public safety.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
