Man Sentenced to 40 Years for Road Rage Shooting That Killed 70-Year-Old in San Antonio

Donyell Moton

San Antonio, TX — A man convicted in a deadly road rage shooting was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years in prison for the killing of a 70-year-old driver.

According to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office, a jury in the 290th District Court found Donyell Moton (aged 46 at the time of the crime) guilty last week in the shooting death of Roberto Huron. Jurors reconvened on March 4, 2026, to determine Moton’s punishment.

Judge Jennifer Peña sentenced Moton to 40 years in prison.

Trial evidence showed that the shooting occurred in November 2022 while Moton was driving behind Huron and his wife.

Prosecutors said Moton pointed a firearm out of his vehicle window and fired several shots at Huron’s car. Huron was struck during the shooting and died from his injuries.

Moton admitted to firing the shots but claimed he acted in self-defense. He told investigators that Huron had brake-checked him and attempted to run him off the road.

However, multiple eyewitnesses testified that Huron was not driving aggressively before the shooting and did not pose a threat to Moton.

Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Melissa Alban and Ross Lewis prosecuted the case, with assistance from Victim Advocate Amanda Vasquez and Investigator Jose Niño.

Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said the sentence represents justice for the victim and his family.

“With this sentence, we honor Roberto’s memory and stand with his family,” Gonzales said. “We will remain committed to upholding the law and serving our community with integrity, ensuring that justice prevails for all.”
