SEGUIN, Texas - A Seguin man has been arrested on an aggravated robbery charge following an investigation into a theft at a local Walmart in which a firearm was allegedly displayed, police said.
According to the Seguin Police Department, a male suspect entered Walmart at approximately 10:55 p.m. and left the store with multiple unpaid items. When a witness attempted to intervene, the suspect reportedly displayed a firearm in a threatening manner before fleeing the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division conducted follow-up interviews and worked with patrol officers to identify the suspect as Jose Angel Martinez, 31, of Seguin.
On Feb. 13, patrol officers located Martinez and arrested him on an aggravated robbery warrant issued by 25th Judicial District Judge William D. Old III. He was transported to the Guadalupe County Jail, where his bond was set at $150,000.
Police credited witness cooperation and coordinated investigative efforts for leading to the arrest. The case remains part of an ongoing investigation.
