The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has concluded an investigation into a criminal network responsible for smuggling synthetic cannabinoids, commonly known as K2, into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center.
The operation was uncovered earlier this month during a separate Murder-for-Hire investigation, when detectives identified a coordinated effort involving inmates and outside accomplices who were moving K2 into the facility through fraudulent “legal mail.”
On February 17, 2026, BCSO Street Crimes units, K9 teams, and investigators executed multiple arrest and search warrants connected to the smuggling operation. Several suspects who were not already in custody were taken into custody during the operation.
A search warrant executed at a residence in Converse resulted in the recovery of three stolen vehicles, two firearms, including one reported stolen and another with an obliterated serial number, as well as approximately 108 grams of K2-laced material prepared for distribution.

Adrian Daniel Farias: Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (First Degree Felony), Manufacture/Delivery of a Penalty Group 2/2-A Substance (Second Degree Felony), and Prohibited Items in a Correctional Facility (Third Degree Felony).
Craig Marshall: Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (First Degree Felony), Manufacture/Delivery of a Penalty Group 2/2-A Substance (Second Degree Felony), and Prohibited Items in a Correctional Facility (Third Degree Felony).
Outside the Facility (Co-Conspirators):
Joshua Ezequiel Herrera: Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (First Degree Felony), Manufacture/Delivery of a Penalty Group 2/2-A Substance (Second Degree Felony), Prohibited Items in a Correctional Facility (Third Degree Felony), Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle (State Jail Felony), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Third Degree Felony), and Possession of a Penalty Group 2-A Substance (Class A Misdemeanor).
Veronica Marie Herrera: Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (First Degree Felony), Manufacture/Delivery of a Penalty Group 2/2-A Substance (Second Degree Felony), and Prohibited Items in a Correctional Facility (Third Degree Felony).
Crystal Lee Zepeda: Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (First Degree Felony), Manufacture/Delivery of a Penalty Group 2/2-A Substance (Second Degree Felony), Prohibited Items in a Correctional Facility (Third Degree Felony), and Obstruction or Retaliation (Third Degree Felony).
Brittani Nicole Smith: Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (First Degree Felony) and Money Laundering (Third Degree Felony).
