SEGUIN, Texas - On February 12, 2025, Seguin Police responded to four vehicle burglaries reported across the city, including break-ins involving both a Comal County Sheriff’s Office vehicle and a Seguin Police Department vehicle. Various items were stolen during the incidents, including an off-duty firearm.
While officers were responding to the burglaries, additional reports began coming in regarding stolen and abandoned vehicles. Investigators determined that four vehicles had been stolen in total, three from Seguin and one from Schertz. Through the course of the investigation, authorities found that all of the burglaries and auto thefts were connected.
Two of the stolen vehicles, one from Seguin and one from Schertz, were recovered later that same morning. The remaining two stolen vehicles were entered into the license plate recognition system (LPRS).
Later that night, an LPRS alert indicated that one of the outstanding stolen vehicles had been located in New Braunfels. With assistance from the New Braunfels Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety, officers located the vehicle and arrested three juveniles and two adults who were actively breaking into other vehicles at the time.
Follow-up interviews led to the recovery of the final stolen vehicle, along with additional stolen vehicles linked to cases in San Antonio and Schertz. In total, five stolen vehicles were recovered.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles, remove valuables, and report any suspicious activity.
