Bandera County Issues 90-Day Burn Ban Amid Drought Conditions

Bandera County is under a burn ban following an order issued February 12, 2026, by County Judge Richard A. Evans prohibiting outdoor burning in unincorporated areas of the county.

Order No. 26-0212-6 was adopted after the Texas Forest Service determined that drought conditions exist within the county. The prohibition will remain in effect for 90 days unless lifted earlier if the Texas Forest Service determines conditions have improved.

The order was enacted under Local Government Code 352.081 and other applicable statutes.

The ban does not apply to certain outdoor burning activities authorized by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, including firefighter training, public utility, natural gas pipeline or mining operations, agricultural planting or harvesting, and burns conducted by a certified prescribed burn manager in compliance with state law.

Under state law, violating the order is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500.
