Quick Response by Cibolo Firefighters Rescues Woman From Second-Floor House Fire

CIBOLO, Texas - Firefighters with the Cibolo Fire Department, assisted by the Cibolo Police Department, responded to a residential structure fire Thursday afternoon, January 29th, and rescued an adult woman from a second-floor bedroom.

When crews arrived, they observed smoke coming from the second floor of the home and immediately made entry to begin fire suppression and search operations. During the primary search, firefighters located an adult female occupant in an upstairs bedroom and safely removed her through a second-floor window.

She was transported by EMS to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Her son was also safely removed from the home and was waiting outside the residence.

Investigators determined the fire originated in the kitchen and was contained to that area, though smoke spread throughout the house. Cibolo police officers assisted firefighters by forcing entry to allow crews to gain quick access to the structure.

Officials credited the aggressive and coordinated response by first responders with containing the fire quickly and preventing further damage, as well as ensuring the safe rescue of the occupants.

The Schertz Fire Department, Schertz EMS and Cibolo Public Works also provided assistance.

"Today’s response was truly a collaborative effort, and we appreciate the professionalism, coordination, and dedication demonstrated by all involved," said the Cibolo Fire Department in a statement.
