Bomb Threat Prompts Evacuation And Search At Boerne Walmart


BOERNE, Texas - A bomb threat prompted the evacuation and temporary closure of a Walmart store in Boerne on Saturday afternoon as law enforcement and emergency crews conducted a precautionary search of the building.

According to the Boerne Police Department, officers were dispatched at 12:53 p.m. Jan. 24 to the Walmart in the 1300 block of South Main Street after the store received a phone call from an individual claiming a bomb had been placed inside.

Officers arrived and worked with store management to evacuate all employees and customers. With assistance from a canine unit from the San Antonio Police Department and a bomb technician from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the store was thoroughly searched.

Authorities said the search determined there was no threat to the public. No injuries were reported.

Multiple agencies assisted with the response, including the Boerne Fire Department, Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, Kendall County EMS, Kendall County Office of Emergency Management, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Police thanked residents for avoiding the area during the investigation, allowing crews to safely conduct the search. The store has since reopened.

The investigation into the bomb threat remains ongoing.
