Guadalupe County Deputies Arrest Armed Suspect After Domestic Disturbance and Vehicle Stop in Seguin

SEGUIN, Texas - In the early morning hours of Sunday, January 18, Guadalupe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance involving a firearm in the 700 block of Cordova Loop in northeast Seguin.

According to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies quickly identified and located a vehicle fleeing the area that was believed to be connected to the disturbance. Deputies initiated a stop and detained the driver.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of multiple handguns, a large quantity of narcotics, and a significant amount of cash. Authorities said the suspect was uncooperative during the encounter.

While being detained, the suspect began moving around in the backseat, kicking and trying to free himself from the handcuffs.  He caused damage to th patrol vehicle and was able to briefly gained access to a rifle inside the patrol unit. Deputies acted quickly and were able to immediately secure the weapon without any injuries. The suspect was eventually identified as 42-year-old Joshua Ricketts of Seguin.

Ricketts was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including narcotics offenses, unlawful carrying of a weapon, money laundering, criminal mischief, and assault.

Sheriff’s officials credited coordinated deputy actions for safely resolving the incident and removing firearms, drugs, and cash from the community. The investigation remains ongoing.
