Seguin Man Sentenced to 40 Years Without Parole for Repeated Sexual Assault of Children

Michael Eric Farrell

COMAL COUNTY, TX - A 58-year-old Seguin man will spend the next four decades behind bars after a Comal County jury found him guilty of a series of predatory sexual assaults against young relatives.

On December 16, 2025, Judge Bruce Boyer of the 22nd District Court sentenced Michael Eric Farrell to 40 years in prison for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child Under the Age of 6. Farrell received an additional 20-year sentence for Indecency with a Child Under the Age of 14. Due to the severity of the primary charge, Farrell is ineligible for parole and must serve the full 40-year term.

A Decade of Deception and Abuse

The investigation into Farrell began on May 9, 2022, after a 10-year-old relative (Victim #1) informed her mother of the ongoing abuse. The child revealed that Farrell had been assaulting her since she was approximately 5 years old, often during family visits.

Following this initial outcry, the scale of Farrell's crimes began to surface:

  • Sibling Outcry: A sibling of the first victim came forward shortly after, reporting similar abuse by Farrell.

  • Cold Case Surfaced: As the Comal County Sheriff’s Department investigated, a third relative, now an adult, disclosed that Farrell had sexually abused her for years, starting when she was 5 and continuing until she was 11.

The Trial: Betrayal of a "Father Figure"

During the trial, the prosecution highlighted the extreme breach of trust Farrell committed. The mother of the first two victims testified that she had viewed Farrell as a father figure, making his actions a profound betrayal of the family unit.

Jurors also heard from Susan White, a forensic interviewer at the Children’s Advocacy Center. White provided critical context on:

  • Delayed Disclosure: Explaining the psychological reasons why children often wait years to report abuse.

  • Lifelong Impact: Discussing how early-childhood trauma affects victims well into adulthood.

Jury Rejects Defendant’s Denial

Taking the stand in his own defense, Farrell claimed that every witness, including his own young relatives, was lying. However, under cross-examination, he was unable to provide any motive for why three separate relatives would fabricate such traumatic allegations.

The jury deliberated before returning guilty verdicts on all counts, effectively ensuring Farrell will remain in prison until he is nearly 100 years old.
