San Antonio Police Seek Potential Victims After Man Arrested for Brutal Date-Turned-Assault

James Jay Galloway

SAN ANTONIO, TX - The San Antonio Police Department has arrested a man identified as 40-year-old James Jay Galloway following a violent incident that began as a date and ended in a harrowing assault inside a vehicle. Galloway was taken into custody without incident on January 6, 2026, but investigators believe there may be more victims.

The Incident

According to police reports, the incident occurred on December 21, 2025. Galloway met a young woman for a date, which initially appeared routine. However, as the two walked back to a vehicle afterward, the situation turned violent.

Once inside the vehicle, Galloway allegedly launched a brutal attack, physically and sexually assaulting the victim. Investigators state that Galloway strangled the woman until she lost consciousness. In a desperate bid for safety, the victim attempted to break free multiple times, but each time Galloway reportedly continued to strangle her until she was knocked unconscious again.

Despite the repeated violence, the victim was eventually able to escape the vehicle and contact law enforcement.

Ongoing Investigation and Search for Other Victims

While Galloway is now in custody, the investigation has revealed a potentially broader pattern of behavior. Authorities confirmed that Galloway is currently being investigated for other similar sexual assault crimes.

Because of the nature of the allegations and the possibility of a serial pattern, the Special Victims Unit is reaching out to the public. They are concerned that other individuals may have had similar encounters with the suspect.

Call to Action

Law enforcement is urging anyone who has been sexually assaulted by Galloway, or who knows someone who may have been a victim, to come forward.

If you have information or have been personally affected, please contact the Special Victims Unit at 210-207-2313.

The investigation remains active as detectives work to identify any additional crimes linked to the suspect.
