SAN ANTONIO, TX - A narcotics investigation by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office led to a major drug and weapons seizure and the arrest of a local man following a brief pursuit earlier this month.
On December 12, 2025, deputies executed a search warrant in the 5600 block of Butch Canyon as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug trafficking. While working the case, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Mikal Mireles near U.S. Highway 90 and Hunt Lane. Mireles refused to stop, leading deputies on a pursuit through the area.
The pursuit came to an end at the intersection of State Highway 151 and Hunt Lane when Mireles failed to yield and crashed into another vehicle. After the collision, he exited his truck and tried to run but was quickly taken into custody without further incident.
A search of Mireles’ vehicle resulted in the discovery of approximately eight ounces of methamphetamine. Deputies then executed the search warrant at his residence, where they uncovered a much larger haul. Inside the home, investigators recovered an additional 32 ounces of methamphetamine, bringing the total seized to roughly 40 ounces. Deputies also located 17 firearms, including four confirmed stolen weapons, along with ghost guns, Glock pistol switches, a rifle suppressor, digital scales, and materials commonly used to package narcotics.
Mireles was transported to the Bexar County Jail, where he was charged with evading arrest or detention in a motor vehicle and manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance over 200 grams. Authorities say additional firearm-related charges are pending due to the presence of stolen weapons, firearms with obliterated serial numbers, and unmarked guns.
