Suspect Arrested After Attempted Kidnapping and Police Impersonation in San Marcos

San Marcos police have arrested a 38-year-old man accused of attempting to kidnap two adult women while impersonating a law enforcement officer.

On Friday, December 13, the San Marcos Police Department received a 911 call reporting a possible kidnapping attempt at the San Marcos City Cemetery. According to investigators, the victim said she was approached by a man who engaged her in a brief conversation before identifying himself as law enforcement. The man reportedly displayed handcuffs and attempted to restrain her. The woman was able to break free and immediately contacted police.

Officers later learned that the same suspect had been reported earlier in the day for acting suspiciously at a nearby residence, raising additional concerns about his behavior.

Police identified the suspect as Kevin Andrew Frimpong, 38. Authorities initially asked the public to remain alert and report any encounters with individuals falsely claiming to be law enforcement. Later that evening, officers located Frimpong and took him into custody without incident.

Frimpong has been charged with Attempted Kidnapping and two counts of Impersonating a Public Servant. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine whether there may be additional victims.

San Marcos police remind the public that legitimate law enforcement officers will always carry proper identification and encourage anyone who encounters suspicious behavior to call 911 immediately if they feel unsafe.
