Officers Seize More Than 8 Pounds of Marijuana After Plain-View Discovery in Seguin Home

Earlier this week, a Seguin Police officer and her officer in training responded to a call at a home inside the city. While speaking with the reporting party, officers were given consent to step inside. Once they entered the residence, they immediately noticed a large quantity of packaged marijuana sitting in plain view.

A state narcotics search warrant was secured and executed soon after. During the search, officers seized 8.75 pounds of marijuana, 90.2 grams of THC products, and a firearm from a bedroom.

According to the department, marijuana and THC products continue to show strong ties to drug-related violence, including a notable number of shootings. The marijuana seized in this case carries an estimated street value of about twenty thousand dollars, and the THC products are valued at roughly twelve hundred dollars.

Seguin Police credited the quick observations of the responding officers, noting how important it is to look beyond the original call for service.
