128 Pounds of Suspected Meth Seized from Rail Cars in Calhoun County

Members of the Crossroads HIDTA Task Force, including the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Victoria County Sheriff’s Office, Port Lavaca Police Department, and Goliad County Sheriff’s Office conducted an inspection of multiple rail cars in Calhoun County, resulting in a significant narcotics seizure.

During the inspection, a narcotic detection K9 alerted to one rail car. Task force officers discovered evidence of tampering on the rail car frames, revealing a hidden trap door that provided access to the internal frame compartments. Upon opening the compartment, officers found contraband suspected to be methamphetamine. A second hidden compartment on the opposite frame rail was also discovered.

In total, approximately 128 kilograms (256 pounds) of suspected methamphetamine were recovered from the rail cars. No arrests have been reported at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
