New Braunfels, TX – The 466th District Court in Hays County recently handed down several significant sentences in cases involving sexual assault, child exploitation, and human trafficking, highlighting the collaborative work of law enforcement, prosecutors, victim advocates, and court personnel.
Ronnie Andrew Gonzales, 37, of Seguin pled guilty to Continuous Sexual Assault of a Young Child and was sentenced to 35 years in prison, which must be served in full without parole. Gonzales was arrested in May 2024 after a young girl disclosed he had sexually abused her over a two-year period, beginning when she was nine. The abuse continued after the family moved from Mathis to Comal County. The case was investigated by the New Braunfels Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lauren Cole.
Theodore Gonzales Delarosa, 81, of New Braunfels pled guilty to four counts of Possession of Child Pornography and received a 10-year prison sentence, with Counts I and II running consecutively. His case was investigated by the Texas Office of the Attorney General and prosecuted by District Attorney Jennifer Tharp and ADA Lauren Cole.
Joshua David Young, 51, of San Antonio pled guilty to Continuous Trafficking of Persons and was sentenced to 35 years in prison, also served in full without parole. Young, a family friend of the victim’s father, had exploited a minor by providing money and cell phones in exchange for nude images, then transported the victim to hotels in Comal County to sexually assault her. The investigation was initiated after the victim’s brother discovered suspicious messages on the victim’s social media account. The New Braunfels Police Department conducted the investigation, with prosecution by ADA Lauren Cole.
German Perez-Diaz, 33 pled guilty to three counts of Sexual Assault of a Child and was sentenced to 18 years in prison by Judge Stephanie Bascon. The investigation began in November 2024 after classmates reported that Perez-Diaz, an adult male, was meeting a minor student, who later disclosed she was pregnant by him. Police verified his interactions through surveillance and ultimately arrested him during a traffic stop. The case was investigated by the New Braunfels Police Department and prosecuted by ADA Lauren Cole.
“These cases reflect the importance of a coordinated justice system in holding predators accountable and protecting children from exploitation,” said Judge Bascon. “The dedication of investigators, prosecutors, and support staff ensures that victims’ voices are heard and that justice is served.”
