On November 6, 2025, Hays County SWAT assisted the Buda Police Department in serving a search and arrest warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Cross Barn Boulevard in Buda. The warrant was related to the theft of multiple firearms from a Cabela’s store.
When the suspect, later identified as Bronte Standifer, initially refused to surrender, SWAT deployed advanced technology to track the individual while the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) worked to establish communication. After persistent efforts, CNT successfully convinced Standifer to surrender peacefully.
Standifer was taken into custody without incident and faces three outstanding warrants for theft of a firearm. Authorities praised the teamwork and coordination between SWAT and CNT for resolving the situation safely.
