This week, Judge Catherine Stahl of the 175th District Court sentenced Gabriel Rosas to 20 years in prison for intoxication manslaughter in the death of his former co-worker, Margaret Ureste.
The investigation revealed that Rosas had consumed alcohol during his lunch break on the day of the incident. As Ureste was leaving work and walking through the parking lot, Rosas struck her with his vehicle. She was found unresponsive at the scene and later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Assistant Criminal District Attorney Madeline Flosi led the prosecution with support from Victim Advocate Fabia Moralez and Investigator Albert Lopez.
“This case is a reminder of the life-altering consequences that stem from drinking and driving,” said Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales. “We are thankful the court recognized the gravity of this offense and delivered justice for Margaret's family.”
The sentence underscores the county’s commitment to holding individuals accountable for impaired driving that results in tragic loss of life.
