Schertz Man Arrested in 2023 Murder of Lisa Sipes

On May 26, 2023, Schertz Police responded to a welfare check at the Palmera Apartments on FM 3009 in Guadalupe County and discovered 42-year-old Lisa Sipes deceased in her residence. The scene was deemed suspicious, prompting a full investigation.

Aaron James Declouette, 62, was identified as a person of interest and initially arrested on June 28, 2024, for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

On October 2, 2025, a Guadalupe County grand jury indicted Declouette on charges of murder, a first-degree felony, and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony. A warrant was issued immediately.

On October 6, 2025, Schertz Police, working with the Corpus Christi Police Gang Unit, located and apprehended Declouette without incident. He was arraigned and is being transported back to Guadalupe County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000,000.
