BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — What began as a traffic stop for expired registration ended with a major narcotics bust on September 22, 2025, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 1:30 p.m., a deputy on proactive patrol pulled over a 2017 Nissan Titan pickup in East Bexar County. The driver, identified as Ramiro Torres-Huato, did not have a valid driver’s license.
A K-9 unit responded to the scene and conducted a free-air sniff, alerting deputies to the possible presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed a large white trash bag on the front passenger floorboard containing six gallon-sized bags filled with a crystal-like substance.
Field testing confirmed the substance to be methamphetamine with a total weight of approximately six kilograms. The drugs have an estimated street value of $200,000.
Torres-Huato was arrested and booked into the Bexar County Jail on a federal charge of possession with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of methamphetamine. He declined to cooperate with investigators.
Sheriff’s officials commended the deputies’ work in removing a large quantity of dangerous drugs from the community.
