San Antonio Man Sentenced to 38 Years in 2019 Murder Case of Co-worker

Defendant: Colin King

SAN ANTONIO -- Colin King was sentenced this week to 38 years in prison for the 2019 murder of his co-worker, Shane Jean-Louis Bourret. Judge Michael Mery handed down the punishment in the 144th District Court.

Bourret was reported missing in May 2019 by his family in Georgia after he abruptly stopped communicating during a work trip to San Antonio. Relatives told investigators he had expressed fear for his safety, confiding that he felt threatened by King.

Authorities later determined that King shot and killed Bourret while the two were staying at an Airbnb on the city’s Northwest Side. Witness testimony confirmed King concealed the body following the murder.

Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Brandon Ramsey and Caleb Bortner prosecuted the case with support from Victim Advocate Jessica Munoz and Investigator Martin Gaskin.

“This unthinkable act of violence is a heartbreaking reality that Shane’s loved ones carry every single day,” Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said. “Today’s sentencing delivers justice for him and his family, and it reaffirms our commitment to standing with victims who can no longer speak for themselves. We honor their voices by ensuring they are never forgotten.”
