SEGUIN, Texas—A Seguin man with a lifetime sex offender registration requirement has been arrested for failing to report his change of address to law enforcement.
The Seguin Police Department's Criminal Apprehension Street Enforcement (C.A.S.E.) Unit initiated a narcotics investigation in August and September that led them to Ruben Partida Gonzalez, 54.
During the investigation, police learned that Gonzalez, a registered sex offender, had moved into the city limits of Seguin but had not updated his address with either the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office or the Seguin Police Department, as required by law for individuals with lifetime registration requirements. In Texas, failing to comply with lifetime sex offender registration is a third-degree felony, punishable by two to ten years in prison.
On September 9, the C.A.S.E. Unit obtained an arrest warrant for Gonzalez. The following day, on September 10, officers located and arrested him without incident in the 3000 block of Stagecoach Road.
Gonzalez was booked into the Guadalupe County Jail and is being held on a $25,000 bond.
