New Braunfels Police Arrest Suspect in Chase Bank Robbery, Recover Stolen Cash

NEW BRAUNFELS, TX — A 58-year-old Schertz man is in custody after police say he robbed a Chase Bank branch in New Braunfels and fled with cash.

On September 10, 2025, around 12 p.m., officers with the New Braunfels Police Department responded to a robbery at the bank in the 1600 block of State Highway 46 West. Investigators said an adult white male entered the branch, handed the teller a note demanding money, and left in a vehicle with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division identified a suspect within hours and obtained a warrant for his arrest. On September 11, at about 9 a.m., detectives and officers from the Street Crimes Unit executed the warrant at a residence in the 18000 block of I-35 North in Schertz. During the operation, police recovered the stolen money and the demand note used in the robbery.

The suspect, identified as Michael Dean Hicks, was arrested without incident and booked into the Comal County Jail on a charge of Robbery. Bond had not been set as of Thursday.

Police said the case remains under investigation and additional charges may be filed.
