NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas—A 34-year-old man from Schertz died in a rollover crash on I-35 in New Braunfels on Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. on September 2, the New Braunfels Police and Fire Departments responded to a crash in the northbound main lanes of the 2900 block of I-35 North. First responders found a silver Ford Fusion that had rolled over, and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, had been ejected. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving through traffic when he sideswiped a blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. He then overcorrected, causing his car to roll over.
The northbound side of I-35 was closed for approximately 3.5 hours for the accident reconstruction investigation. No other injuries were reported, and no charges are expected to be filed.
