On the occasion of "National Park and Recreation Professionals Day" celebrated on July 21, the City of Kerrville is proud to honor and recognize two exemplary leaders from the Parks and Recreation Department for their outstanding achievements in the field.
Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, Deidre Flores, has recently attained the esteemed Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE) designation from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). The CPRE is a mastery-level credential that sets a national standard for managerial, administrative, and executive professionals in the parks and recreation industry. Designed to address the current challenges of the ever-changing park and recreation environment, the CPRE emphasizes practical knowledge and real-world skills.
Flores' qualifications include a combination of education, field experience, and a current Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification, making her well-suited for the program. The CPRE's rigorous exam further solidifies her expertise in the field, making her one of the most accomplished professionals in the Parks and Recreation industry.
Having completed a Master’s Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services – Recreation Management from Texas State University, along with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreational Administration from Southwest Texas State University, Flores exemplifies a commitment to academic excellence.
Joining Flores in celebration is Recreation Manager Rosa Ledesma, who recently earned her CPRP designation through NRPA. The CPRP certification represents the national standard for all parks and recreation professionals aspiring to be at the forefront of their profession. By meeting rigorous education and experience qualifications, Ledesma has showcased her dedication to the field and her in-depth understanding of key concepts within parks and recreation.
Administered by NRPA, the CPRP certification is an impressive achievement for entry-level to middle-management professionals. Ledesma's successful completion of the challenging exam reflects her dedication to continuous learning and professional growth, making her a valuable asset to the Parks and Recreation Department.
In addition to her CPRP certification, Ledesma recently obtained her Master’s Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services from Texas State University in spring 2023, showcasing her commitment to staying abreast of the latest industry knowledge. Her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Sports Science, also from Texas State University, further strengthens her expertise in the field.
Ashlea Boyle, the director of Parks and Recreation, expressed immense pride in the accomplishments of Deidre Flores and Rosa Ledesma.
