Karnes County Man Sentenced to Life for Murder

Defendant: Baldomero Farias

KARNES COUNTY, TX — A Karnes County jury has found Baldomero “Bode” Farias guilty of murdering Zach Decas. Farias was sentenced to life in prison.

Decas had been missing for nearly a month when two witnesses came forward with information that led investigators to his remains. The investigation revealed that Farias shot Decas in the back of the head and then enlisted others to remove and burn the body in an attempt to conceal the crime.

The District Attorney’s Office emphasized that the verdict underscores the county’s commitment to justice. “Violence and brutality will not be tolerated in Karnes County,” the office said.

Assistant District Attorney Ryan Wright and First Assistant DA Leslie Carranza led the prosecution, with law enforcement support from Texas Rangers Shane Staley, Justin Cuellar, Terry Snyder, Detective Pham of the Kenedy Police Department, and other personnel. The jury’s verdict reflects the community’s values and reinforces that acts of violence face the full force of justice.
