UVALDE, TX — The Uvalde Police Department (UPD) has arrested four individuals in connection with a vehicle burglary and a related shooting, following swift action by officers and cooperation from the community.
Last week, UPD responded to a report of a burglary involving an unlocked vehicle, during which a firearm was stolen. The Patrol Division quickly identified a suspect. Less than 24 hours later, a separate shooting occurred.
UPD detectives, aided by community tips and interagency support, linked the shooting to the earlier burglary. Within 16 hours, two suspects were apprehended, and further investigation led to the arrest of two additional individuals involved in the shooting.
Assisting in the operation were the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office Explosives Canine Unit. The stolen firearm was recovered.
“This was a seamless, collaborative effort that brought swift justice to our community,” said UPD CID Lieutenant Chris Hill. “We are especially grateful to the residents of Uvalde—two of the suspects were apprehended directly due to timely and valuable information provided by local citizens.”
UPD Chief Homer Delgado added, “I’m incredibly proud of our team for their diligent work in ensuring suspects involved in this incident were swiftly arrested and firearms were recovered.”
The case is part of Operation Sunblock, an initiative by UPD to strengthen community partnerships and target violent crime.
