A federal grand jury in San Antonio has indicted 27-year-old Alex Lee Vega on three firearm-related charges.
Court documents allege that Vega conspired with a co-conspirator to transport a machinegun conversion device to another person around April 10. Vega, a convicted felon, is also accused of possessing two separate Glock pistols on April 11 and April 14.
He faces one count of aiding and abetting trafficking in firearms and two counts of felon in possession of a firearm. Vega appeared Thursday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Elizabeth S. Chestney in the Western District of Texas. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison per charge.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is investigating the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sade Bogart is prosecuting. U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons announced the charges.
