On Saturday, June 28, 2025, Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a physical disturbance at a residence in the 500 block of Anderson Lane near Martindale.
Deputies determined that 27-year-old Jaren Martinez had assaulted a 27-year-old female member of his household and threatened others with a knife. Martinez fled on foot before deputies arrived and was believed to still be armed.
A search of the property led deputies to Martinez, who was found hiding under a trailer. He initially refused to surrender, claiming he was armed with a knife and urging deputies to shoot him. Four less-lethal rounds were deployed from a 40 mm launcher, and Martinez surrendered shortly after.
Martinez was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury to a Family Member and Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport. He also had active warrants for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Obstruction or Retaliation, and a Texas Department of Criminal Justice Parole Revocation.
He was booked into the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Facility.
