A man wanted in connection with a violent 2023 home invasion in East Bexar County has been captured and returned to Texas to face charges.
On April 13, 2023, at approximately 7:10 p.m., multiple armed suspects entered a residence and held several victims at gunpoint for over an hour. A 19-year-old male was assaulted and forced to open multiple safes containing firearms. A woman who arrived during the incident was also detained, followed by a juvenile male who was restrained. All three were bound using zip ties and phone charging cables, and threatened by the suspects.
The suspects fled the scene in a white Toyota Tacoma with dark window tint, black rims, and LED lights.
William Best was later identified as one of the suspects involved in the armed robbery. While out on bond and scheduled to appear in court for the aggravated robbery charge, Best removed his GPS ankle monitor and informed his attorney that he would not appear. A warrant was issued after he failed to show up for court on May 8, 2025.
Best was located on June 10, 2025, in Fayette County, Kentucky, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force. He was extradited to Bexar County on June 22, 2025.
Authorities had previously been considering a 25-year plea agreement before Best fled. With his failure to appear, the case is now being prepared for trial and has been designated a top priority by Bexar County Sheriff's Office investigators.
