On January 3, 2024, San Antonio Police responded to a 911 call reporting Sancho’s erratic behavior. Officers arrived to find Sancho wandering naked around the apartment complex. Inside her apartment, police discovered the body of her daughter. Sancho told officers she killed the child because "God told me to sacrifice her."

At the time of the offense, Sancho was under outpatient supervision. Her family reported a prior incident from 13 years earlier, when she was arrested for choking her 3-year-old niece. In that case, she was found not guilty by reason of insanity and committed to a mental health facility.

Following the recent verdict, Sancho will be committed to a state mental hospital, where she is expected to remain indefinitely.
