A Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) deputy's vigilance early Tuesday morning, June 10, 2025, led to the arrest of an alleged online predator and the rescue of a 12-year-old female victim.

At approximately 2:26 AM, deputies were alerted to a suspicious vehicle parked at the dead end of Marbach Road and Wentwood Road in West Bexar County. Upon investigation, two individuals were found inside the vehicle engaged in illegal activity.

As deputies approached, the driver, identified as 21-year-old Alejandro Jesus Garza, attempted to discard incriminating evidence but was quickly detained. The passenger was identified as a 12-year-old female child victim.

During questioning, the victim revealed she had been communicating with Garza through an online platform called “Chat IB.” Through their online communication, Garza allegedly arranged to meet with the victim, which ultimately led to the disturbing assault.

Garza was transported to the BCSO Criminal Investigations Division, where he admitted to meeting the victim through “Chat IB.” He was subsequently transported to the Bexar County Jail and booked on a charge of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. His bond was set at $100,000.00.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is reminding parents of the significant dangers associated with social media platforms, gaming chat rooms, and other forms of online communication, where sexual predators actively target minors. The BCSO emphasized the critical importance of educating children about the risks of sharing personal information, exchanging photos, and especially providing residential addresses.

Important Safety Tips for Parents from BCSO:

  • Monitor Activity: Regularly check your children’s devices, messages, and apps.
  • Know the Apps Your Children Are Using: Learn how gaming and online platforms work, including their features.
  • Teach Privacy: Children should never share personal information like age, photos, or location.
  • Keep Conversations Open: Encourage honest conversations about your children’s online interactions.
  • Set Clear Rules: Clearly define which apps your children are allowed to use for their safety.
  • Use Parental Controls: Enable filters and monitoring tools to help safeguard your children online.
