On Sunday afternoon, May 25, San Antonio Police responded to a report of two children left unattended outside in the 7300 block of North Loop 1604 East.
Officers found the children, ages 2 and 6, outside in temperatures around 95 degrees. They began searching for the children’s mother and located 28-year-old Ashantee Verchelle Boone. Boone told officers she left the children alone while she went to pick someone up from a nearby gas station and admitted she knew the children were unattended.
Boone was arrested and charged with two counts of abandoning/endangering a child with intent to return.
