A juvenile suspect has been arrested in connection with the December 2023 murder of 22-year-old Khadija Derry, who was fatally shot in a Converse neighborhood.

On December 6, 2023, officers with the Converse Police Department responded to a shooting in the 8900 block of Arundal Garden. Upon arrival, they found Derry, a San Antonio resident, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts.

An investigation was launched with assistance from the Texas Rangers and other agencies. Authorities eventually identified two suspects in the case. One suspect was killed in an unrelated incident in April 2024. The second suspect, a juvenile from San Antonio, was identified through field interviews, digital forensics, and other investigative methods.

On May 5, 2025, the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force located and arrested the juvenile suspect on a murder warrant. The juvenile was also wanted by San Antonio Police for a separate Deadly Conduct charge. He is now in custody in Bexar County.
