A routine traffic stop in the early morning hours of May 18 led to the arrest of a Poteet man on counterfeiting and forgery charges after deputies discovered what appeared to be counterfeit currency, numerous pieces of mail, and a printer with fake money still inside the vehicle.
Deputy Sanchez and Deputy Morse of the Atascosa County Sheriff's Office conducted the stop near Hwy 281 and FM 536 in northern Atascosa County. Upon approaching the vehicle, they observed the suspicious items, including what appeared to be forged checks.
The driver was identified as 36-year-old Glen Patrick Mosqueda of Poteet, who had a history of similar charges in 2022. He was taken into custody and booked into the Atascosa County Jail.
Mosqueda was charged with two counts of Counterfeiting/Forgery, and his bond was set at $18,000, which he has since posted.
The Atascosa County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigative Division is currently sorting through the evidence, and additional criminal charges are pending as the investigation continues.
