A 20-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter following a deadly crash that claimed the life of a 71-year-old woman on April 23, 2025, in West Bexar County.
Deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety and Homicide Units responded to the two-vehicle crash on Alamo Ranch Parkway. Upon arrival, deputies found both vehicles severely damaged and both drivers injured. First responders rendered life-saving aid to 71-year-old Patricia Browning, who had sustained critical injuries.
Browning was transported to University Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the other vehicle, Richard Gonzales, initially told investigators he had not been traveling faster than 50 mph. However, deputies at the scene doubted his claim based on the extent of the damage.
Witnesses reported seeing a white Ford Mustang, driven by Gonzales, speeding before the collision. Investigators secured video evidence and obtained search warrants for the vehicle and blood samples. On April 25, crash data retrieved from the Mustang confirmed Gonzales was driving at 108 mph in a 45 mph zone just moments before the crash.
An arrest warrant was issued, and Gonzales was proxy-booked into custody while still receiving medical care. He later posted a $100,000 bond on the manslaughter charge.
Gonzales now faces a felony charge in connection to the fatal collision.
