K9 Officer Discovers 6 Kilograms of Cocaine During Traffic Stop on IH-10 in Guadalupe County

On January 15, 2025, a routine traffic stop on IH-10 West by Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) K9 Sergeant Crawford resulted in the discovery of six kilograms of suspected cocaine.

Sergeant Crawford pulled over a Ford F-350 pickup for a traffic violation. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Roberto Cardenas of McAllen, Texas, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. After receiving consent to search the truck, GCSO K-9 Zeus alerted to the presence of narcotics.

A search of the vehicle uncovered an aftermarket compartment containing five bundles of suspected cocaine weighing approximately six kilograms.

Cardenas was arrested and booked into the Guadalupe County Jail on charges of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, equal to or greater than 400 grams.

This case involved collaboration between the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, the GCSO Special Investigations Bureau, and the Seguin Police Department Case Unit.
