On Friday, November 15, 2024, at approximately 9:31 a.m., a Gillespie County deputy initiated a traffic stop in the 700 block of West Main Street for a moving traffic violation. During the stop, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, prompting further investigation.
The male driver admitted there was a marijuana “roach” in the vehicle and potentially other THC-related items. A subsequent probable cause search uncovered approximately 3.5 ounces of THC, claimed by the female passenger, along with a sealed box containing 88 assorted THC gummy packages and 70 packages of THC wax and oils, totaling approximately 8,096 grams.
The 43-year-old driver from Corpus Christi, Texas, admitted he had been hired to transport the box from Colorado to Corpus Christi for a $2,000 fee. He was arrested and charged with:
- Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2/2-A >= 400 grams (gummies)
- Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2/2-A >= 4 grams < 400 grams (wax/oils)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in PG 2/2-A >= 4 grams < 400 grams
The search also revealed 13 grams of THC wax and oils and a glass bong, believed to be for personal use.
Two toddlers were in the vehicle during the stop and were released to the care of the female passenger. Authorities indicated that charges against the female passenger are pending.
The driver was transported to the Gillespie County Jail, and the investigation remains ongoing.
