On September 4, 2024, at approximately 7:52 P.M., the Schertz Police Department received an emergency call regarding a violent disturbance at 5570 FM 3009, Whataburger. Upon arrival, officers were directed by citizens to a vehicle in the parking lot. Inside, officers found a female slumped over, appearing to have suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officers immediately called for Schertz Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and administered first aid until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in grave condition. Her identity is pending notification of next of kin.
Chief of Police Jim Lowery stated, "The scene is stabilized, and there is no threat to the community." Schertz Police advised the public to avoid the area due to the large presence of first responders. The investigation is ongoing.
