On Tuesday night, July 23rd, Universal City Police officers responded to a welfare concern in the Fern Meadow area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a barricaded subject and a hostage inside the residence.

The situation led to the involvement of the Alamo Area Metro SWAT team. As the SWAT team approached the scene, the suspect emerged from the home and was taken into custody without incident. The hostage was found and assessed by Schertz EMS, who reported minor injuries.

The suspect is facing multiple charges. The investigation is ongoing.
