Guadalupe County Man Sentenced to 99 Years in Prison for Murder of Friend

A Guadalupe County Jury has found Ethan Beckman, 23, guilty of Murder, a first-degree felony, and Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence, a third-degree felony, in connection to the death of 20-year-old Jacob Dubois.

Dubois went missing from his home on March 7, 2021. Beckman was initially arrested on March 29, 2021, for Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence based on evidence found during the investigation.

In March 2023, Beckman was indicted on Murder and Tampering charges after Dubois' remains were discovered and identified in September 2022.

On Tuesday, Beckman was sentenced to 99 years in prison for the Murder charge and 10 years for the Tampering one.  The sentences will run concurrently.

Schertz Chief of Police Jim Lowery expressed gratitude to multiple entities involved in the investigation, including the Guadalupe County Attorney’s Office, the Texas Rangers, the United States Secret Service, Texas Search and Rescue, Comal County Sheriff’s Office, Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State, and the dedicated detectives.

Chief Lowery hopes the conviction brings solace to the Dubois family and friends.
