On March 11, 2024, Schertz Police Officers received a report of a sex offense incident that involved a juvenile victim. Officers met with the victim’s mother, who advised her daughter made an outcry against her fourth-grade teacher at Schertz Elementary.
Schertz Police Department immediately began working with the Schertz Cibolo Universal City ISD and was able to positively identify the teacher who was immediately placed on Administrative Leave.
Detectives investigating the case secured a probable cause felony warrant, Indecency with a Child (2nd Degree Felony) for the suspect on March 20, 2024. The suspect has been identified as Gabriel Cantu, 42-year-old male from San Antonio, TX.
Cantu surrendered himself to the Schertz Police Department and was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Guadalupe County Jail.
