Woman Reports Kidnapping and Shooting Near Stonewall Winery, Alleged Kidnapper Found Dead

On March 15, 2024, authorities responded to a distress call reporting a woman's claim of being kidnapped, drugged, and involved in a shooting incident. The Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office, Fredericksburg Fire & EMS, and the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene, located near a winery along the 10800 block of East US Highway 290 in Stonewall, Texas.

The woman provided details of her ordeal, including descriptions of the vehicle involved and the firearm used. Upon arrival, a deputy spotted the vehicle in question parked in the outside lane of westbound traffic. Inside, a male occupant was found unresponsive and later confirmed deceased by emergency personnel. The deceased was identified as 49-year-old Damon Reid of Houston.

Law enforcement and emergency services engaged with the woman, who was found nearby.  The woman was transported to the hospital.  While deputies and investigators collected evidence at the scene, another investigator interviewed the woman again at the hospital. She was identified as a 45-year-old resident of Montgomery, Texas.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities continuing to gather evidence and piece together the sequence of events leading to the reported kidnapping and shooting.
