Hays County is set to celebrate the completion of the Dacy Lane Realignment and Expansion project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 7 at Dacy Lane and Sunflower Circle in Kyle.
Key speakers at the event will include Hays County Commissioners Debbie Ingalsbe and Dr. Michelle Cohen, Mayor Travis Mitchell from the city of Kyle, and Hays CISD Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright.
The project, initiated on April 19, 2021, as part of the 2016 Road Bond program, has been a significant endeavor aimed at enhancing road infrastructure in the area. With a total cost of $20,648,012.40, the project expands and realigns Dacy Lane to improve safety and accommodate the growing community's needs.
Highlights of the project include the construction of a five-lane roadway from Bebee Road to Amberwood Loop, a three-lane roadway from Amberwood Loop to Hillside Terrace, and a 10-foot shared-use path at key pedestrian locations near schools. New traffic signals have also been installed at intersections to enhance safety.
Moreover, the project involved relocating a waterline operated by Goforth Special Utility District. Portions of the old Dacy Lane roadway alignment will now serve as local access roads, with a section renamed as Science Hall Loop.
According to commissioners Ingalsbe and Dr. Cohen, the completion of the Dacy Lane project is crucial for ensuring safety and mobility in the growing community, especially for those accessing schools along Dacy Lane.
The project team, comprising HNTB Corporation, Jordan Foster Construction, LIA Engineering, LAN, Inc., and BGE, Inc., has worked diligently to bring the project to fruition. Substantial completion was achieved on Feb. 19, 2024.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony marks a significant milestone for Hays County, signaling improved infrastructure and enhanced safety for residents and commuters in the area.
