San Antonio Councilman Proposes Partnership with Union Pacific to Address Maintenance Issues

District 2 Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez has taken action to address maintenance issues along Union Pacific properties in San Antonio. On February 16, 2024, McKee-Rodriguez filed a Council Consideration Request (CCR) to formalize a partnership with Union Pacific aimed at tackling overgrown areas and improving safety.

District 2, which houses the highest number of rail miles and intersections with Union Pacific in the city, has seen numerous calls from residents for better maintenance of these areas. McKee-Rodriguez, responding to these concerns, emphasized the need for long-term solutions to enhance safety and beautification efforts across San Antonio.

The CCR, supported by Councilmembers Teri Castillo (District 5), Melissa Cabello Havrda (District 6), Marina Alderete Gavito (District 7), and Marc White (District 10), will now proceed to the Governance Committee for scheduling on an upcoming meeting agenda.
