Peterson Health's Compassion Fund Drives Home Care Support with Everesting Challenge

Peterson Health's Compassion Fund is making strides to support home care patients in the Hill Country facing debilitating diagnoses and limited resources. These patients, who rely on home care due to their medical conditions or inability to self-care, often struggle to improve their well-being. Donations from the Compassion Fund play a crucial role in enhancing their health and living conditions.

Lanier Nelson, a dedicated medical social worker at Peterson Health Home Care, is spearheading efforts to raise awareness and funds for these vulnerable individuals. His ambitious endeavor involves completing an "Everesting" challenge on his bicycle. On Saturday, February 24, 2024, Nelson aims to ascend a single hill repeatedly until he reaches an elevation gain equivalent to Mount Everest—32,032 feet.

"I am undertaking this fundraiser to support our elderly and disabled patients in the community who find themselves in dire circumstances," Nelson expressed. "Often, these patients struggle to afford even basic necessities, making improvements to their living conditions a distant dream."

To contribute to Nelson's compassionate initiative, donations can be made to Peterson Health's Compassion Fund via PetersonHealth.com/CompassionFund. Donors wishing to dedicate their contributions to Nelson's Everesting challenge can specify "Lanier Nelson" in the "in honor of" box on the donation page. Additionally, businesses have the opportunity to support Nelson's cause by obtaining logo placement on his custom jersey for advertisement purposes. For further information, interested parties can contact Nelson directly at BNelson@PetersonHealth.com or 830.258.7736.
