In 2023, the program achieved significant milestones by completing 214 living donor kidney transplants and 171 deceased donor kidney transplants. Additionally, it was acknowledged as the largest Hispanic kidney transplant program in the country.

UNOS reported that over 6,900 people became living organ donors in 2023. Dr. Matthias H. Kapturczak expressed gratitude for practicing in San Antonio, highlighting the city's dedication to championing the living donation path to improve kidney transplantation access.
