Fredericksburg Man Arrested for Felony Warrants, Weapons and Drug Paraphernalia

On Sunday, January 28, 2024, at approximately 12:35 p.m., a routine patrol by a local deputy along South US Highway 87 took an unexpected turn, resulting in the arrest of a 21-year-old Fredericksburg man with outstanding felony warrants.

While patrolling near the Whispering Oaks Subdivision, the deputy noticed a vehicle leaving the area and turning into a private driveway with a gate. The vehicle then proceeded to head northbound before making a sudden turn into the parking lot of the Classic Barber Lounge and parking behind the establishment.

Upon pulling into the parking lot, the deputy observed a male individual running from behind the vehicle and entering the barbershop. The deputy promptly approached the man and discovered he was the driver of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the individual had two outstanding local felony warrants, one for Deadly Conduct Discharge of a Firearm and another for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Despite the subject's refusal to consent to a vehicle search, the deputy called in the assistance of the Gillespie County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit. K9-Maverick, the four-legged officer, conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle's exterior, providing a positive alert for the presence of illegal substances.

Subsequent to this discovery, deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, uncovering drug paraphernalia, two handguns, and two balaclava ski masks. One of the weapons was confiscated due to suspicion of its involvement in an ongoing investigation by the Fredericksburg Police Department.

The 21-year-old male suspect was promptly arrested on the outstanding felony warrants and transported to the county jail. A male passenger in the vehicle was released at the scene, and the second weapon was handed over to another party.
